An Exploit is a program that is designed to take advantage of vulnerabilities and security flaws to hack into a system and take control of it for malicious purposes. It may be done remotely over a network or locally. Generally, an Exploit targets any software which has a glitch or vulnerability to execute malicious code on systems, launch denial of service attacks, gain access to confidential data, modify user privileges etc.
